A Visit To Papa and Nana's

In September, we went to see our Papa and Nana. It is always
fun going to their house . They live on the river and Papa has a Gator.
(a gator is kinda like a four-wheeler) Well, we met our Uncle Donnie and
his family at Papa's. My cousins and I all love to DRIVE the Gator.
Nana is usually the only one that is brave enough to let us drive. It is lots of fun.

In this picture, Papa and Hannah are watching us drive off.
Papa is probably thinking SLOW DOWN AND DRIVE STRAIGHT
as Hannah is waving bye.

Nana and Papa let Hannah sit at the steering wheel. Just look at her face.

She has a Papa look - very very serious.

Thanks Papa and Nana for the great time. We all wish we could have stayed longer.

Mom is doing much better

I just wanted to let everyone know that Mom is feeling better.
She is almost 100%. Her only limitations are that she can not pull the
clothes out of the dryer, put them in the dryer and also she can not lean
over Hannah's crib to put her to bed.

We are all glad that Mom is better. This is a special time of year at the Miller house.
We love celebrating the birth of our Savior. We started Advent
(the coming of Christ) this past Sunday. Hopefully,
I can write more on Advent later. Today, Mom made cookies with us.
Hannah even got into the act by climbing on the oven, reaching up and
grabbing a raw cookie off the cookie sheet. She tried to put it into her
mouth but I think Mom scared her and she dropped the dough on the floor.
Let's just say that Mom's reflexes are back to normal!!

Thanks for praying for our Mom. The Lord has truly blest our family.

Weather Update!!

Today we had our first snow. It snowed for about 10 min.
We also had a little rain and it did not get over 40 degrees today.

Update on Mom

On Monday, Mom contacted our family doctor. He sent her to a surgeon.
The surgeon said that she needed surgery right away. Dad took her to the
hospital and by 6:00 she was in the operating room. The surgery went
very well. Even thought she was in a lot of pain, she was able to get up and
go to the bathroom.
Mom came home from the hospital on Wednesday. The doctor told her that
she could not lift anything over 5lbs and she can not drive for two weeks.
She is still is a lot of pain because she has a 5 inch vertical incision on her
right abdomen. We are all glad Mom is home. Please keep on praying that she
will have a very speedy recovery :)

Please Pray!!!!

Hey everyone!!

Please pray.for my Mom. On Friday, she started having cramps
in her abdomen and my Dad took her to Urgent Care. After that,
they sent her the hospital. The doctors thought that she had
gall stones. So the Doctor sent her home and made an ultra sound appointment for Tuesday.
She was in a lot of pain that day. On Saturday, her pain got worst.
Thankfully, she made it through the night.
Today, about 11:00 she went back to the hospital. She just got home
around 9:30. While she was there, all they did was give her more medicine
(for pain, nausea and swelling) and she had a CT scan and ultra sound.
They found out that it was not Gall Stones it was a rare hernia.
She still has her ultra sound appointment on Tuesday.
The doctor said he would not do anything until then.
Hopefully she will not need surgery. :(

Please Please Pray she will get better.

If you are praying please feel free to let us know by
leaving a comment .

Thanks everyone !!

Andrew Goes to Kindergarten

On August 13th, Andrew started kindergarten. Mom's plan was to homeschool him.
However, 2 days before school started , we learned that Andrew would have to attend public school until we could get our homeschooling documents from our accountability group.
Then we would have to get permission from our home state to homeschool Andrew.
Dad and Mom plan on leaving Andrew in school for now but they are in the process of getting approved to homeschool him. Mom is not liking Andrew being in school.
She misses him and is upset because she is not getting to teach Andrew.
My Mom doesn't like to miss anything we do. Andrew, on the other hand, is loving school.
Mom told him that she missed him and Andrew said, "I didn't miss you." Mom's feelings were hurt and Dad gave Andrew a talk about women and how easily their feelings get hurt.
Now, Andrew just tells Mom that he is glad he is home and that he had fun in school.
Andrew got his 6 week progress report today and he got everything satisfactory.
So,I think things are going well.

We Move One More Time

Yes, on July 28th, we all move to a new house. In June, my Dad and
Mom decided that they would by a house. After many long hours of
looking, we found a house that would fit us all. On July 26th, they closed
on the house. We were so thankful to God that it had all work out. Now,
we are living here and the whole house is painted. (My Dad is so glad the
painting is done for now) The house is new. It is a 3 bedroom and 2 1/2 bath.
You are probably wondering how we deal with just 3 bedrooms. Well,
right now, I am sharing a bedroom with my little sister, Hannah. But, by
the beginning of next year, I will most likely have a bedroom in our
basement. In the basement, there is going to be my room,
a guest room/playroom (so guest welcome) and a bath I am so
excited about having my own bathroom (no more sharing with little ones!!)
and my dad is going to build it all. We also have a really nice yard with a
field in the back. We also have a small creek in the back. On the other
side of the creek, we have seen 2 doe, 3 fawns and 2 juvenile deer.
My Dad said that there is probably a buck somewhere.
It would be so cool to see him.

I hope we do not move for a long time to come.

Breaking News about Hannah!!!!

On July 4th, Hannah took her first steps. She took 2 steps from our stool to our end table. When my Dad came home, he got her to walk even more. Now she is walking all over the place and getting into everything!! Mom hoped she would not walk until we found a house but, of course, Hannah never does what you want her to.

Sorry!!

Sorry everyone, that I have not been a posting lately. My parents have been in the process of buying a house. There has been countless evening in the car looking for us a place!!! The best news in the Miller House is that Hannah started walking. Also, we are moving again and we are having a yard sale on the 13 and 14. There will be more to come on all subjects. Again, sorry for the late news.

Looking back on the day we first met Hannah

Below is something I wrote so I could always remember this special day in my life. I thought I would share it with you. I hope you see how God has blessed our family.

Sierra and Hannah-Faith on the day we met. April 23rd, 2006

My Sister Hannah

My family is a foster and adoptive family. We were a family of 3 until my little sister and brother came along. Today, I will tell you a little about the first time with my little sister, Hannah-Faith, or Hannah for short. She has brown hairand blue eyes. She is ten months old and very cute. Well let’s go back to the beginning, when we got the phone call for Hannah.
When we got the phone call for Hannah, we had only been on the adoption list for 3 months. That’s a very short time. My mom and I were actually on our way to a class. While my mom was on the phone getting information about Hannah, I just knew something was going on and I was sooo excited. I could hardly sit down. When my mom got off the phone, she told me what had happened. We were both so happy. We hugged each other and pretty much screamed, but we still had to ask my dad for permission. Of course, he said yes.
After my dad said yes, my mom still had to teach her class. She said that we would get to see Hannah at 4:00. On the way to class our best friend, Aunt Cheryl, my mom and I where trying to pick a name. Hannah was at the top of the list. Little did we know Hannah’s birth mom had already named her Hannah. All we knew was that she was a baby caucasian girl. I wanted to stay in my mom’s class, actually, I did not want to go to class at all. I was too excited but my mom said that I had to go. While we were at class, my mom and I told a lot of people about the new addition to our family.
After class was over, we rushed home and my dad met us there. Then, we went to MUSC to see Hannah. When we got there, we looked for Hannah’s social worker. We waited for about 15 minutes or so before we saw her. My mom and dad were a little nervous. Hannah was on a heart and lung monitor. My mom needed to be trained on the monitor to be able to work it and we were late. First, we went to the baby department in MUSC. Before we saw Hannah, we had to wash our hands. When we saw Hannah, she was 5 pounds and 7ounces, and was on a heart and lung monitor because she was seven weeks premature. Hannah’s first nurse was Miss Tiffany. Miss Tiffany let my Dad hold Hannah first, and then my Mom got to hold Hannah. After my Mom and Dad both got to hold Hannah, we had to leave. My Mom had to get trained on the monitor. I was going to go with my Dad to run some errands, but we decide I could stay and get trained also.
After we got trained on the monitor, my Mom paged Miss Tiffany to bring Hannah to my mom’s room. When she got there Miss Kim was with Miss Tiffany. Miss Tiffany showed my Mom how to change Hannah’s diaper because she was so little and the diapers where so big!! Miss Tiffany also showed my Mom how to take Hannah's temperature, and how to make Hannah’s bottle. After Miss Tiffany left, the dietitian brought my mom her dinner. It smelt and looked good but it was not. So Miss Kim and I went down stairs and got dinner from Chick-Fil-A. When we were done eating and Miss Kim left, my mom let me hold Hannah and feed her one of her bottles. Hannah was so cute and light!! Later, my Dad came to pick me up and dropped off my mom’s stuff for the night. When we were about to go home, Hannah smiled at me. She was so cute. I really wanted to stay with my Mom and Hannah. But my Mom and Dad said that I could not and that I could see her in the morning.
The next morning my Dad and I went back to MUSC, to bring Hannah home. My Dad left me their with my Mom while he went back to work. Before we could take Hannah home, my Mom had to take a CPR class. She said that I could come too. Hannah also, had to take a car seat test. A car seat test is where they put Hannah in a car seat and used a machine to make it feel like the baby is really in a car. The reason they had to do this was to see if Hannah would get sick in the car, but she didn’t. Later, Aunt Cheryl and Alicia came to the hospital to see Hannah, and bring some clothes for her. Around lunch time Daddy came to take us home before we could leave, we had to wait for Miss Kim. When Miss Kim came she had Hannah’s life book. She gave it to my mom, then she took a picture of our family and one with Aunt Cheryl and Alicia in it. After that Aunt Cheryl, Alicia and Miss Kim left. My mom got into a wheelchair with Hannah. We all went to the parking lot. My Dad loaded us up and then we went home with our new family member.
That was how I got my little sister. Hannah, has grown up a lot since then. She gotten bigger, weights about 22lbs and is crawling. She is still so cute. I well never forget the day we got Hannah. That was one of the most exiting times of my life. Well that’s the end of my story. I hope you liked it. Hannah and I say bye.

Sierra Miller.

Oh, how sweet!!

Hannah is not a preemie anymore. She is our beautiful birthday girl.

Happy Birthday - Hannah-Faith

Hannah had her first birthday last Sunday, April 15th. It is hard to believe that she is already one year old. However, Mom said that it is not hard for her to believe. She has stayed awake and heard every cry for the last year. Of course, she would not have it any other way!!

We celebrated Hannah's birthday in three ways. The first way was with our family and friends. They live 3 hours away from us so we visited them on Easter weekend. On April 7th, we had 24 of our closest family and friends over at my Grandma's house for a party.
Hannah had help from Mom blowing out her candle. After that Aunt Sherry, helped Hannah tear into her cake. Hannah didn't like having the cake on her hands or face!!. Despite all the effort Aunt Sherry made, Hannah persisted on not eating the cake. She just started to scream. I think all the people looking at her might have had something to do with her attitude. Also, she was not feeling well.

Above, is a cake Mom made for Hannah. Below is one that was bought for everyone to enjoy. It was Strawberry Cream Cheese. Yum delicious.

Aunt Sherry has more on her hands than Hannah does on hers.

My Mom also made Strawberry Lemonade which was very good. After everyone ate cake and ice cream, Hannah and Mom opened Hannah's presents. Hannah liked the paper and bags more than the gifts. She got clothes, toys, a walker, ride on toy and money. I think the best part of the day was visiting, hugging, and loving on all our family and friends.

The next way we celebrated her birthday was when we went to our Papa and Granny's house. Granny had Hannah a birthday cake and present. Hannah still didn't like putting her hands in the cake. She got a plate, bowl, cup, spoon and fork set.

The third and final way we celebrated Hannah's birthday was on April 15th at our house. We ordered pizza. Hannah had pizza for the first time. Mom made Hannah her cake. Dad helped her blow out her candle after we sang "Happy Birthday". We sat a huge piece of cake on a plate on her highchair tray. Hannah dumped the cake onto her tray. Then she picked up cake in both hands and started to eat. We couldn't believe she was eating the cake. She kept looking at her hands like something was wrong. However, she kept eating the cake, grinning and swishing the cake in between her fingers. She made a huge mess on her, the highchair and the floor. Cotton enjoyed the mess on the floor.

After Hannah enjoyed her cake and got a bath, she opened her presents. Hannah got a set of blocks, a toy airplane, a toy farm, and a teddy bear I made. She liked playing with the farm animals the best. However, the first toy she went for was the bear I made.
Hannah made not realize it this year, but she had a great birthday. I am thankful to be able to share it with her.
A birthday kiss from Daddy. Happy Birthday Hannah.

Getting Better

Mom is feeling better. Hannah still has a runny nose and some congestion. Thankfully, I am feeling better. So far, Dad and Andrew have escaped the germ. Thanks for all the prayers.

Another one down - 2 to go!

Well, I woke up this morning with a sore throat and the feeling that some big glob was hanging out in the back of my throat and wouldn't go down. By 10:00 I was running a fever and my nose was stopped up. I am also sneezing but I haven't gotten the cough yet.
Mom is feeling better but now her lower back is hurting. This is from constantly carrying Hannah around for the last 2 days. Hannah is still not feeling well. She is still sneezing, coughing, and her nose is running. She is VERY fussy!! Hopefully she will feel better tomorrow because it is her birthday. She will be ONE!!
Please pray Dad and Andrew doesn't get sick. Mom says that men are real babies when they get sick. I am not sure if she can handle anymore babies!! However, I know that God gives her her strength. We will depend on Him to get us all through.

Two down three to go!!

Please pray. Hannah is sick. Yesterday we took Hannah to the Dr. He said that she had a virus and that we all would probably get it. Well, Mom already thinks shes got it and is not feeling good today. Hannah is looking a tiny bit better but not much. Hopefully, no one else will get sick. Keep checking back and I will keep you posted.

A Trip With The Family!!

Last Thursday, April the 5th, we went to see grandparents. It is a 3 hour drive from our house. Do you know how much luggage you have to put in a car for 2 adults and 3 kids? Let me show you.

Sierra's bags...

Andrew's bags...

Hannah-Faith's bags... ( She had 3 more but they were not packed at the time of the picture.)

Mom's bags... (Dad's were not ready at the time of the picture. Dad packed 1 bag plus the satellite box. Mom also had to bring the camera bag, bathroom bag, medicine bag, and ice chest which are not pictured.)

While we were on our trip, we stayed at my Grandma and Nanny's house. However, on Friday night, I stayed with my cousins. During the day on Friday, my cousins, uncle, Andrew, Daddy and I went fishing. Andrew was the only one to catch anything. He caught one fish and an uncle. Yes, he hooked Uncle Donnie on the back of his shirt. Even though most of us didn't catch any fish, we still had fun. When we got back from fishing we ate hamburgers and then dyed eggs for Easter. This was Andrew's first time dyeing eggs.

On Saturday, we celebrated Hannah's first birthday with family and friends. We had 24 people in all. Hannah got lots of attention and presents. She didn't like the cake. I will post more about her birthday party later. After the party, we went out to eat with my Papa and Nana. I really wanted to hang out with everybody longer, but Hannah needed to get home. She had a long day.

On Sunday, we wanted to go to our old church but Dad said that we needed to pack up the van. We went to eat dinner with my Papa and Granny and had an Easter Egg Hunt. They also had Hannah a cake and gift. Hannah still didn't like the cake. Around 4:00, we headed home. Look at the picture below with everything we had to take back with us.
The reason we had toilet paper in the back of our van is because my Mom goes grocery shopping when visit grandparents. It is cheaper than buying them where we live.

The 3 hour drive was not easy coming home. Mom had to sit in the back with Hannah most of the way. Hannah was really fussy. I am glad we get to go on trips but it is always good to be back home.

Hannah's First Slush

Here my Dad is giving Hannah her first slush from Sonic. He thought she might like the limeade. However, I prefer the watermelon. Below, there are some pictures of Hannah's expression when she first tried the slush .

Wonder if she thinks the second bite will taste better if she closes her eyes!

This is just one of Hannah's sour expression. As you can see the limeade is kind of tart!!

This is just one more of Hannah's sour expression.

I am sure Hannah would rather be nursing than have limeade slush. What do you think?

Poem written by Mom

This is a poem my Mom wrote for my Dad this past Valentine's Day. She said that she didn't care if I included it on my blog. My parents are still in love after 16 years. I am so glad my parents don't mind showing they love each other in front of us.

Valentine's Day Past

On Valentine’s Day in the past,
I would have met you after work
For a quiet dinner for two.
Today, it is dinner for 5
And it is everything but quiet!

On Valentine’s Day in the past,
You would have given me the smell of roses.
Today, I have the sweet smell of girls,
The sweat of a boy,
And oh, the smell of diapers!

On Valentine’s Day in the past,
We would have come home,
And I would have slipped into some sexy lingerie.
Today, you come home
And I am in my PJ’s with a baby on my hip.
(or attached to my breast)

On Valentine’s Day in the past,
We would have taken a nice bubble bath,
And given each other a back rub.
Today, we discuss who is going to give the children a bath
And oh, I NEED a back rub!!

On Valentine’s Day in the past,
We would have ended the day making love,
And then fell asleep in each others arms.
Today, we make love everyday in the lives of our children,
And if you ask me, our love is greater and better today,
Than in the past because we have given it away so that it will last.

Thanks for all the great memories but most of all thanks for loving me.

I love you more today than all of our yesterdays. You are the love of my life.

Missy

On March 6th -- Canada Geese

After dinner, we headed to the park with bread in hand. We got to feed several Canada Geese. I have never seen so many Canada Geese in one place. When you look at these magnificent birds you can not tell the male from the female. But most of the time, you will see these birds in pairs. Here, I am getting a Canada Goose to eat out of my hand. Did you know they have TEETH? Not really, but their bill is very sharp and the inside is jagged. They also stick out their tongue and pant like a dog. This one was very demanding. He/she must have been really hungry or just a MALE!!
Andrew, was a little afraid at first to feed the geese. However, after a little coaxing and watching me, he gave it a try. This goose grabbed the bread out of his hand before he could think about dropping it. Notice the surprised look on Andrew's face. He still has a little piece of bread in his hand.

We both had a lot of fun this evening. I will never forget my time with the Canada Geese. I hope they stay around and have their goslings. That would be an amazing sight to see!!!

Our Home

This is a picture of the front of our house. I
thought you might want to see where we are
living.
This is the biggest house we have ever lived in.
I like the fact that I have my own room and we
have a hang out/playroom downstairs. It is a lot
of fun.
Also, Andrew and Hannah have their own rooms.
However, right now, Hannah is still bunking
in my parents room. We also have a Guest
Room if anyone would like to come visit. As you can see, this is the back of the house. To the left, right in front of the deck, is a huge Magnolia tree. Andrew and I like playing under and on the tree. My Dad doesn't like the tree at all. That probably has a lot to do with all the leaves he has to rake up. Another thing we like about the backyard is the treehouse. Also, this past Winter it was fun to sled down the hill. One thing we don't like is that there is no where for us to put up a pool. Or so, my Dad says. My Mom is still holding out hope and so am I!!!

A Muddy Mouth

In this pictures, Andrew has mud in his mouth. How did this happen you might ask? Well, Andrew and I had made a mud pie and I ask him to try it. He refused. So, my Mom ask him to try it. Instead of Andrew leaning back, he leaned forward and the stick that the mud was on went straight in his mouth. It was quite funny to my Mom and I. ( Mom didn't mean for it to go in his mouth)

Still In Love

Let me introduce my family. My parents are Jeff and Missy. My Dad likes to go fishing, play with his children, and he is a big Nascar fan. The way to my Dads heart is through his stomach. My Dad likes to try different foods and EAT!! My Mom likes to cook and bake, read and teach us about Christ. My parents are very loving and fun to be around.

My Girl

This is me, Sierra. My favorite birthday present was my dog, Cotton. She is a Toy Poodle. I got her from my Papa and Nana for my 5th birthday. Cotton just turned 7 years old.
I like bright colors especially pink and yellow. I have started collecting poodle things. I am learning to decorated and sew my own clothes.

Outdoors Boy

My brother, Andrew, likes to play outside, to play remote control cars and do anything with my Dad. He is 6 years old. At the moment, his favorite color is PINK!! I think he likes pink because he likes to copy me. His favorite food is Macaroni and cheese. Andrew will, hopefully, be adopted late this Summer.

Cuteness at its best

This is my sister, Hannah-Faith. We call her Hannah or "boo boo" for short. She is called "boo boo" because she was our surprise baby. My parents were only on the adoption list for 3 months when we got the call to adopt her. Hannah likes to nurse, chew on things and scream. Hannah is 11 months and her favorite thing is our MOM!! She is crawling and pulling up on things. When she is awake, she likes to play and be held.

A Picture Of Our Family!!!!

This is a recent picture of our family at the park. Who knows , except the LORD, when the next family member will be added.

Welcome to my blog

Hi, I am glad you came to view my blog. In the coming months, I hope to trill you with my family moments. I would like to let our friends and family become more involved with the daily adventures of our family because we live so far away from them. I hope to include pictures with my blog. This way you can see how we are growing.
